Lesson Learned
Well, I learned something about LiveJournal this morning: Don't rely on the web-based spell checker unless you have a copy of what you're working on. Lost the entire post. Ah, well.
Had a great day, today. I'm most of the way through my Iowa visit. My Grandmother (almost 97 years old) just this last month moved out of her house (where she's lived since my grandfather died in 1986) and into a nursing home. Her positive attitude has always been one of her strong points and has served her well. She's very complementary of the staff and the care she receives. She bought a lift chair on Tuesday. Sue and I scoped it out and reported back to Grandma who said to get it. She'd resisted the urging of my father and aunt to get one but once she experienced the benefits she went for it. She says, "No matter where I go I will need a chair so I might as well get one."
Her angry-looking knuckle has a preliminary diagnosis of gout so she's on a new medicine that will hopefully help. The half-cast splint they put on her forearm and hand on yesterday really bothered her last night. It will also prevent her from using her walker because she won't be able to grip it on that side. Hopefully, she'll be able to get back to using the walker after the splint comes off next Wednesday.
I treated Donna, Sue and Al to lunch at The Wharf this noon. They make a decent burger, their cheese bacon soup was very tasty and the shrimp and salads that the others order look both good and generous. Afterwards, I ran back to the house to pick up the yellow tulips I cut for her earlier in the day. I delivered those and visited with Grandma, Sue and Al.
I went for a drive after that. First down the east side of East Lake Okoboji then up the west side of West Lake Okoboji followed by the east side of West Lake then the west side of East Lake. Wonderful, warm, sunny weather today. Heaven! The people here are *so* friendly.
Got to go - dinner's on.
